In modern times, hustle culture is rooted in society's minds. We need to be in spirit to seek rest periodically & thus be in harmony with the spirit. Good & thoughtful post, Imad.👍🏾❤️
loved this article - my experience is summer is a season to slow down and enjoy the fruits of my labor that i have built in the winter, i ebb and flow that way. longer walks, soaking in the nature to its fullest capacity as that gives me the energy to sustain a season of vigor in the winter
You make excellent points here and it’s so well written. As a woman who has tended to push, push, push herself, I think your ideas apply to women, too. Question: what is a “feminized industrial model?”
Thank you for your comment. I am glad you liked this post. The “feminized industrial model of performance” means a system that forces constant, steady, linear output, like a factory machine, a model alien to the natural, cyclical, and explosive way masculine energy operates at its peak.
In this context, I use the term “feminized industrial model of performance” as a critique of how modern society structures work and productivity, not literally about women, but about a system that prioritizes constant, uniform output over cyclical, explosive, and regenerative effort.
"Feminized" here refers to qualities traditionally associated with women, being consistent, sustaining, and nurturing (as in caring for a baby), applied mechanically to work culture. It implies sameness and steady maintenance, as opposed to the volatile bursts of energy and rest cycles seen in traditional masculine archetypes (warriors, hunters, athletes).
I do not mean to downplay femininity or women in general, but I must admit that the way hustle culture wants us to work is very similar to a mother relentlessly nurturing her baby, constant and restless, but without any love or satisfaction. Also, I am a man, and I have very little understanding of women compared to a woman herself, so I would like to know if my assumptions are true or if you disagree with me.
I absolutely love "stillness"! It's a requirement to prevent burnout! It allows one to "step back from the Chaos!". Maybe for days! Until one can take out the trash in one's own head, how can one purify rational thought after dealing with tense emotional issues? Even the temporal pause does not mean absence of progress, its necessary. The author is spot on with cycles, like a sign wave centered about "x - axis". The greater the deviation from centered, the more work one has to do to bring one back to being centered or neutral. I don't believe that there is ever an end to perpetual progress, unless one is dead, or becomes too focused on hedonistic pleasures (eating ice cream every day, and the once fun deviation from a strict diet and the pleasure is lost, and turns into a bad habit). If and when I take pleasure in ice cream, it's only a "spoonful" usually from a friend who says "You just gotta try this ... it's out of this world!" So, even when one looks like they're not making progress, if they are in stillness, they might be resetting their compass?
This is a very good article by all measures, and the author did a very good job with this subject, which is exceedingly difficult to write about!!! Great JOB Author, I LOVE it!!!
